Private Pilot Licence, PPL (H)
There is a theory course which is €2000. You will receive the manuals and you will have the opportunity to study in private. After finishing each module you will be tested and a feedback on your knowledge will be provided.
Then you can practice.
The price for flight is 350 €/hour x 50 hours on Robinson 22, a 2 seats helicopter.
It is recommended spending 4 to 6 weeks in Bucharest for the entire course; this period depends on your capacity to process all written materials and execute the flight time required.
The flight instructor can decide how many hours of flight time you need in order to pass the CAA examination.
Total costs: €17500
In order to obtain the PPL, license for private pilot you need also a radio communications course. The value of this course is about €200.
The examination is made by CAA Romania – cost about €100 + 2 hour flight x 350 €/hour

Comercial Pilot Licence (CPL)
Experience needed: Before you can start the Commercial Licence (CPL) flying course you must have completed a PPL(H) and 155 hours of flight as PPL, from which 50 hours as PIC (Pilot in Comand) and minimum 10 hours flight between 2 airports.
Hour building courses after completing your PPL are available.
For 155 hours on our R22 the cost is €54250
The course: the theory of 250 hours costs €2500
Then you can practice the flight minimum 45 hours x 350 €/hour on Robinson 22.
The flight instructor can decide how many hours of flight time do you need in order to pass the CAA examination. Classes start once a month.

Instrumental Rating (IR)
For CPL owners.
The theory course have 200 hours. You can practice the flight minimum 40 hours.
The flight instructor can decide how many hours of flight time do you need in order to pass the CAA examination.
On a full time course the IR will take about 4 weeks to complete.
This course is made on EC135 (endorsement needed if the student is not qualified on EC135 about 10 hours of flight)

The theory course have 125 hours. You can practice the flight minimum 30 hours.
The flight instructor can decide how many hours of flight time do you need in order to pass the CAA examination. Classes start once a month.

From time to time some corporations or individuals offer to pay for your helicopter pilot training. Send us a CV together with a photo and we will include you in our database for futures sponsorship offers. There is a small fee of €20 for this. If you are serious about becoming a helicopter pilot for a career, you cannot afford to miss this!

Converting an American or Non EASA Pilot Licence to a European Pilot Licence (EASA)
Conversion of Non-EASA Licence
EASA-FCL-1, chapter 1.015, section (c) describes the legislation involved in converting your non-EASA, ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) license to EASA license. The conversion process requirements are greately dependant and vary with your pilot experience and license type you hold. The following sections outline the basic conversion requirements for different experience levels and license types
ICAO CPL >>> EASA CPL
If you hold a non-EASA CPL license the following conversion requirements will apply to you. - Hold a valid EASA-FCL Class 1 medical
- Obtain a Radio Telephony Operator License
- Undertake EASA CPL groundschool training at an approved Flight Training Organization
- Undertake modular CPL flight training course at an approved FTO
- Pass all 9 EASA CPL theoretical knowledge examinations
- Pass the CPL skill test with a CAA Flight Examiner

Type Rating
Transylvania Live Rent-Helicopters is proud to offer type rating on the following helicopters:
-Robinson R44 - 5 hour theory course is €125 and practice type rating a minim 5 hours- €650/hour.
The exact number of hours is to be recommended by the flight instructor (it depends how fast the student learn) - a maxim 12 hours, but minimum 5 hours.
